British Composer / Pianist Katya Sourikova joins Norwegian Noise-Drone Due Chattermark

October 14, 8pm, C13 13 Christburger Str, 10405 Berlin

Don’t miss this rare improvised music and audiovisual event!

Chattermark are John Lilja (electric bass and effects) and Gunhild Seim (trumpet & effects).

Founded with the desire to expand and transform their sound through the use of effects and advanced techniques, they have created something both massive and minimalist, resulting in impressive soundscapes and walls of sound.

Their debut album Chattermark (September 2022, Drollehålå Records) is reminiscent of the music of Sunn 0))), Anthony Pateras and Franz Hautzinger.

» Lilja and Seim structured seven distinct pieces that move between minimalist to massive and intense soundscapes, using drones, distortion, repetitive structures and slow burning noise. Their dense sonic compounds make it almost impossible to know which sound – acoustic, electronic, mutated, or processed, is coming from which instrument. All the pieces have a strong cinematic quality, and often evoke an unsettling sensibility, as if imagining and anticipating a coming apocalypse. « Eyal Hareuveni, Salt Peanuts Chattermark will perform the 1st set of the concert which includes video works by visual artists Signe Christine Urdal and Jon Garcia DePresno, including the piece “Mycelium,” a meditation on the forest in which Urdal and Seim explore the relationship between nature and humanity.
