Join us for an intimate, captivating musical evening with Katya Sourikova (vocals/piano, Berlin) on Fri Aug 25, 2023 at 20:00. Be ready to be mesmerised by her incredible performance of original compositions that bridge the jazz and classical genres supported by Amanda Tse (violin, Amsterdam). The evening will also feature a set of Katya and Amanda collaborating on contemporary originals and covers with fellow diverse musicians Marcel Heijnen (vocals/guitar, Amsterdam), Michael Avery (bass, Berlin), and Nick Jones (percussion, Amsterdam).
Located at the creative space Godown Studio in Amsterdam this intimate event will ensure an up-close and personal encounter with the musicians, allowing you to genuinely connect with the diverse music, stories and performers.
Katya trained as a classical pianist in London at the prestigious Guildhall School and then the Royal College of Music, whereby after she began a fruitful exploration of jazz, finding her musical voice somewhere between the two worlds both as a prolific composer and improviser. She has performed at keynote jazz festivals around the world and has released 4 albums including Ivan's Dream which received critical acclaim. Her talents extend to composing film scores which resulted in her original soundtrack to the film Kythera Mon Amour winning Best Original Score at Tropfest 2017. Katya is currently based in Berlin and working on multiple projects including a set of original songs and contemporary chamber music with Roman Mints, Helen Barsby and Richard McGraith. Katya Sourikova
